Caravan to Willys America 2007 Update

2007 Caravan to Willys America Update:

Ironically the 7th Caravan to Willys America fell on 07, 07’07 along with the multitude of weddings and special events, thus the Caravan was a little smaller than
usual. We picked up 5 rigs at the first stop in Millbrae  including Jay Alberico (#781), John Reynolds & Family (#1024) and Will Regan #1286) and had a  foggy drive
through San Francisco. You can only imagine driving a group of 50+ year old
vehicles along 19th Avenue in San Francisco!

Our stop at the Golden Gate Bridge brought more of the San Francisco fog; we
could hardly see the bridge but it is always a neat place for a picture.
The Avon Breast Cancer walkers were also there with their squad of cheerleaders from Hooters dressed in pink.  I am not sure who got more looks, the cheerleaders or the Willys.

The Petaluma stop brought sunshine, warmth and about a dozen more Willys a
few modern Jeeps and a Harley. We met West Coast Willys Members, Dave Eastman (#461), Jim Mortensen (#69), Toby Abblett (#1223), Vern and JoAn Noell (#1185) and Jim Beidatsch and family in their 1959 Red and White Maverick.  Along with the non WCW members the Caravan grew to a healthy size.

The remaining 50 miles to the Willys America Open House were filled with the
usual beautiful roads, small town sites and views of the Russian River. Just before
we drove the final 10 miles to Willys America we stopped to re-group and
take a group photo of the Caravan. The parked Caravan caused many drivers
on the highway to slow down and even stop to check out the Willys.

The Willys America open house was also down a bit on attendance, but that
meant we all got prime parking spots in Cazadero. Paul was showing off a
new bolt on independent front suspension for wagons and pickups. After a
nice grilled chicken sandwich and salad, compliments of Paul, we checked out
all of the vehicles and got ready for the return trip.

Caravan to Willys America

Who is ready for the 7th Annual Caravan to the Willys America Open House July 7, 2007? That's right the 7th on 07,'07!!!

With so many 7's we should all buy lottery cards!

The is a great opportunity to drive your Willys with other Willys along the San Francisco Peninsula over the Golden Gate Bridge for a photo stop, then a quick pit stop in Petaluma to meet up with more Willys and on through the Russian River valley to the Willys America open house in Cazadero. Does it sound like fun? You bet it is and it is FREE with lunch included!!! Did he say FREE? You may join us at any stop along the way.

Last year there were over 20 Willys in the group and it was a wonderful site to see Willys ahead and behind motoring along the California highways and back roads to the Willys America open house in Cazadero. But the drive is only part of the fun, touring Willys America and enjoying the party in Cazadero completes a Great Willys Day!

Please note: the Caravan travels as fast as the slowest vehicle.

*****Please contact me directly if you are interested in joining the caravan Saturday, July 7th and I will send you detailed information. There is no fee for this event, we are just enthusiast out having fun.*****
